Principal's News
Dear Families,
We have finished another busy term. With sickness impacting both staff and students in the last two weeks, the holidays couldn’t come at a better time. This break will allow us to return healthy and ready for next term.
You will have access to the digital copy of your child/ren’s report today, with parent-teacher interviews taking place early next term. This will give you plenty of time to read over the reports.
This term, we have had Simultaneous Story Day, The Teddy Bears' Picnic, Cross Country, Mother's Day, Bingo Night, Grade 5/6 Camp, and the Mildura Field Days, just to name a few events. Among all these activities, Structured Literacy is now in full swing in all classrooms. Teachers have started noting some of the positive impacts Structured Literacy is having on students' learning, and that all the hard work by staff and students is worth it.
We welcomed Mrs. Lawrence into the Grade Six Classroom for the remainder of the year while Miss Ford has taken maternity leave, which leads to this piece of fantastic news: Congratulations to Miss Ford on the birth of her beautiful baby girl, Freddy, earlier this week. Both mom and baby are doing well.
This week, students in all grades completed STEM activities. These activities encourage students to apply their problem-solving and collaborative skills effectively. Students had to tackle various challenges: designing earthquake-resistant buildings (Grades 5/6), building bridges to cross floodwater (Grades 3/4), designing playgrounds using natural materials (Grades 1/2), and constructing bird cages (Prep).
Congratulations to Isaac Lohmeyer for winning the hot air balloon colouring competition. He received Lego kits for both himself and the school.
A reminder that on the first Friday back (July 19th), there will be no school for students as staff will attend the second Structured Literacy day of the year.
A newsletter will be distributed during the holidays to provide reminders before the start of Term Three.
I hope everyone enjoys a healthy break, free from sickness, and I look forward to seeing you all next term.
Adam Lawrence

Prep News
Wow! What a term for the Prep students! Lots of changes and lots of different teachers throughout the end of this term but they have adjusted beautifully and managed to continue to thrive in all aspects of their learning.
I have loved being their main teacher for the last 6 weeks and have been so impressed with how well they have adapted. I am sure they will be so excited for Miss Appledore's return at the start of Term 3!
Students will be bringing home some extra readers over the holidays. We have also looked at students words this week and added some new ones in if they seemed close to knowing them all. Please try to keep practising reading books and words over the holidays. Bec is busy working on reports, and these will be sent out next term.
I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing break!

Grade 1 News
This week has been a quiet end to the term. I hope everyone is starting to feel better and get some rest in before Term 3. The students have had a great end to the term, they should all be very proud of their efforts.
This week, the Grade 2's joined the Grade 1's for some Science and Mathematics. In Maths they focused on money and adding different coins together. In Science the two classes paired up to create their very own rainbows! Using water, food dye and paper towel, students created a rainbow affect and recorded their findings. It was interesting to see what the two different colours made.
In Literacy this term our class novel was The Magic Faraway Tree. Students enjoyed watching the episodes that matched the chapters and completing work linked to the stories.
Enjoy the 2 week break and I will see everyone next term!

Many thanks to Miss Laity and Mrs Gregus for teaching my class for three days this week. Mrs Torquati was also a huge support for the teachers. I know the students enjoyed some great learning experiences with them. I also received some very positive feedback on how the Grade Twos behaved from both teachers which was wonderful to hear.
Yesterday, Mrs Torquati took groups of students out to make 'Chocolate Balls'. This was the continuation of our unit on Procedure Writing. I'm not sure how many of the treats made it home as some were enjoyed while watching the end of Nim's Island!
I hope everyone has a restful and enjoyable break, see you next term!

Grade Five News
This week we explored the STEM topic of quake-resistent buildings. Students worked in small groups to learn more about the challenges of living in countries that experience earthquakes and how buildings are designed and built to be safer for the people living and working in them. I was impressed with students' cooperation and creativity as they worked together to design and build a prototype of a quake-resistent building. You can see the final products in the photo gallery.
I would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday!
